Our little mighty man, Jason (Boo)
Despite the fear he had just gone through* he made a point of petting some dogs before he left. The most touching thing that came of this was his remark "Wow, alot of people love me."

Indeed we do, our friend.
That, however, didn't keep Dave from trying to rename him "Chewtoy."

I debated even including this, but I mention it because it not only rasies the issue of community, it is part of our story.

* In the midst of our clean up a guy (here unnamed) arrived the night before without paying. He also happened to bring five dalmations who then suddenly surrounded Jason and began attacking him. Thankfully Tackett was in the right place and scooped him up. He was scuffed up but had no serious injuries.
In that moment, f
or all those there, Jason was our collective child. In the week following the incident not less than 300 messages were posted on the main list concerning the issue of dogs and children at events. I watched the community grapple with a new concern now that our numbers have grown. We work through, we listen and we learn.

For all the jackassery, we are at the core, a responsible community whose intent is to foster deep relationship among those who find themselves a part of Gigsville while expressing that creative part of ourselves that defines who we are as individuals. How we handle conflict and tragedy is a mirror to our character. We may not always handle things perfectly, but we handle them as befits a people who have a deep abiding love for one another and who have lived the reality of knowing we are more as a group than we are individuals.
