BURNING MAN 2007 - MONDAY

I find a bike and tear out to the Man Base. It was one of the most surreal moments of my life. Some lunatic actually did it. Set the Man on fire early. The first person I recognize is Buster Friendly. If anyone would have done this it might have been him. He pointed to his T-shirt which had it's first actual payoff ever. "It was on fire when I got here." Well played, sir...But then as I watched the crews put out the last of the flames, it all began to sink in....All of everyone's work was destroyed. All the neon was gone. All of Dylan's plasma glass was gone. Half Dome's ashes...Then it dawned on me. We were probably all going back to work. I found Smoke Daddy and we headed off to First Camp to see Larry. He was suprisingly nonchalant about it. He was suprised no one had done it before. But the news was already in the air....we were indeed all going back to work. We swung round Man Base one more time and I headed back to my tent. Tomorrow was going to be a long day of many to come....
